BPC Winners
The BrickStreet Center hosts an annual statewide business plan competition. A winner from each of three categories is awarded $10,000 to start their business.

RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Raised $4,100,000 capital through donor contributions since June '12
  • Increased academic rigor of Entrep. minor for non-business majors
  • Added new Entrepreneurship minor for business majors
  • Grew College Business Plan Competition
    • 144 entries in 2012 to 235 entries in 2014
    • Institutional participation from 9 in 2012 to 11 in 2014
    • Added a third track to College Business Plan Competition in 2014 (STEM)
  • Started new High School Business Plan Competition in 2014
    • 103 entries from 36 high schools
    • 10 WV Higher Education participants for $10,000 scholarship for winner
  • Designed and implemented Experiential Learning Center, Faculty Led/Student Based Consulting team engaging with private industry firms, local and state govt. agencies offering business services
    • 2012: 5 engagements, $0, 20 students
    • 2013: 5 engagements, $30,000 revenues, 22 students
    • 2014: 8 engagements, $52,500 revenues, 25 students
  • Engaged with State House of Representatives on numerous statewide economic development initiatives
