Frank Goetzke has been name the 2006 Outstanding Student of the Year for the Mid-Atlantic Universities Transportation Center. Frank will be honored at an awards banquet during the Transportation Research Board's annual meeting in January, in Washington DC.

Julia Popova has won the first place award in the 2004 Washington US Association for Energy Economics Student Best Paper Award competition for her paper "Spatial Pattern in Modeling Electricity Prices:  Evidence from the PJM Market."  The award carries a $1000 stipend.  The 2003 first prize award of the US Association for Energy Economics was also won by one of our doctoral students: Sergiy KotsanStratford Douglas supervised the research leading to both papers.

Jordan Huang received the AAII Best Paper Award (also carrying a stipend of $1000) for his paper "Value, Size, and Mutual Fund Performance: Why do Mutual Funds with Persistently Poor Performance Survive?" with Victor Chow, presented at the 2004 Southwestern Finance Association conference.
