award is given to the best graduate student in the Economics
doctoral program at West Virginia University,
and is based on cumulative GPA, comprehensive exam scores,
and overall performance.
Vickers Doctoral Student Research Paper Award, 2002
Very competitive award, with stipend. The
award is given to the graduate student in the Economics doctoral
program at West Virginia University who authored
the highest quality research paper based on potential for
refereed publication.

REASERCH EXPERIENCE:

Graduate Research Assistant, Bureau of Business and Economic Research
I was responsible for conducting directed
research that focused on the state of West Virginia and the
surrounding region. Often this research was
performed to fulfill the requirements specified by various grant
contracts. For example,
I conducted
research on the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol, with emphasis on
possible impacts
to the United
States and West Virginia, as part of a $20,000 grant contract from the
West Virginia Coal
and Energy Research
Bureau.
I assembled
an extensive historical data set on the coal industry of West Virginia
and several other coal-
dependent states,
as part of a $185,000 grant contract from the West Virginia Legislature.
