Details and
Miscellany

I found this delightful creature at the Qing Dynasty tombs. Rub his head for good luck.

 Also from the Qing tombs.

A painting I encountered on a door off a street leading to the temple in Tianjin.

This creature is actually the leg of an incense burner.

Detail on the side of an incense burner.

There's nothing worse than sore peet.

A decoration on the roof of a building in downtown Shanghai.

Who knows where I found this. These ornamentations can be found where ever you look.

Once again, I do not recall where this is. Does it matter?

The Great Wall. This section is in Jiaxin County, Tianjin, and is rarely visited by Westerners. For the intrepid, it is possible to climb past where the Wall peters out, right on up to those peeks.

You don't see doors like this just anywhere. This one is on a narrow street in Tianjin.

This is the opera house in the residential complex of a rich and influential banker in Tianjin during the early twentieth century.

This is me, of course, at the Great Wall. A wee detail I couldn't leave out!
