In 1997, I visited China as a guest of the municipal government of Tianjin and the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area Administration. In 1998, I visited Tianjin and  Shanghai as part of the activities of the Center for Chinese Business at West Virginia University's College of Business and Economics. And in 2000, Randy Elkin and I led a group of twelve students from West Virginia University on a study-abroad trip to Tianjin, Shanghai, and Beijing.
