On the road from Matanzas to Santa Clara, this sign marks the entrance to a sugar mill named after the foremost founding father of... the United States! How ironic, but I suppose a revolutionary hero is a revolutionary hero in Cuba. In all seriousness, Cubans have a great regard for many things American and, in some ways, see themselves as culturally tied to the United States.   The sea view from the Bacunayagua Bridge.  The other side is the Yumurí Valley, a lush sugar-growing area just outside of Matanzas.
