| Pinar del Rio is the western-most province
of Cuba, not far from Havana. It is one of the poorest provinces and the
government is attempting to push eco-tourism there. Not far from Havana,
there is a former French coffee plantation that has been turned into a
stunningly beautiful eco-tourism location called Las Terrazes. Another
stunningly beautiful site is a valley called Viñales, pictures of
which you will see in all the guidebooks. Viñales is just a few
minutes drive from the city Pinar del Rio, the provincial capital.
