Santa Clara

We stopped off in Santa Clara for lunch on our way to Trinidad and did not have time to do the city justice. Most of these photos are of the central plaza, Parque Vidal. I would like to return to do a proper job, as Santa Clara is of significant importance in the history of the revolution. It is also a lovely town in a beautiful part of the country. Remember to click on photos for enlargements.

Away from the center of town, I believe this imposing facility is a provincial government building. Anyone know for sure?   This bandstand is in the central plaza, Parque Vidal.

Buildings facing Parque Vidal.   Closeup of buildings on Parque Vidal.

The old Palacio Provincial, now the city biblioteca.   Venders outside of a coffee bar on the south side of Parque Vidal.

Hanging out at the park.   What can I say? I like this central park.

Teatro la Caridad.   Hanging out with the owner of the casa particular where we had lunch.

Typical late colonial construction. High wooden ceilings like this are the norm.   Florist on the Parque Vidal.

Glutton for punishment? There's lot's more.
