Admission Process

The EMBA program begins classes twice a year, in January and August. Applicants are required to have a bachelor's degree and two years of significant work experience. To assist you with the application process, you may want to use the application checklist.

To apply to Executive MBA programs you need:

  1. Application: You must submit a West Virginia University Application for Graduate Admission. This can be done online, or you can download a paper application. Be sure to indicate M.B.A. (code 2188) when responding to "Major Code" in question 16. The paper application along with the $50 application fee should be sent to:
The Office of Admissions and Records,
PO Box 6009, Morgantown, WV 26506-6009
  2. Official Transcripts: Official transcripts from all prior academic work must be forwarded by your previous institution to the Office of Admissions and Records, PO Box 6009, Morgantown, WV 26506-6009. Contact prior institutions as early as possible. Receipt of the official transcripts allows your application to be processed.
  3. Graduate Management Admissions Test® scores: Applicants will have scores submitted from the Graduate Management Admissions Test® (GMAT). To learn more about the GMAT, visit www.mba.com.
  4. Résume: The Official Transcript and GMAT performance provide some quantitative evidence about an applicant. Applicants round out their profile with other evidence found in their résumé. The résumé should include enough information for the admissions committee to trace the applicant's entire professional work history and should indicate any relevant affiliations. Your resume should be sent to:
The Office of Graduate Programs (EMBA Admissions),
    College of Business and Economics
PO Box 6027, Morgantown, WV 26506-6027

Additionally, applicants have the option of submitting:

  1. Letters of recommendation (up to three): We do not have a specific set of issues to be addressed in reference letters. However, if you choose to have letters sent, we recommend that references provide some information that is not found in the other materials being submitted. Anecdotal comments from the reference writer's shared experience with you is encouraged.
  2. Statement of Purpose: Often the résumé, transcripts, and GMAT scores fail to capture important characteristics that the individual offers for the program. The Statement of Purpose refers to a short essay in which an applicant reflects on the contribution of the E.M.B.A. degree to the applicant's future and the special characteristics that the applicant brings to the E.M.B.A. program. We are interested in value-added experiences, both from the program to the student and from the individual student to the program.

Any optional material should be sent to the Office of Graduate Programs (EMBA Admissions), College of Business and Economics, PO Box 6027, Morgantown, WV 26506-6027.
