General Hardware and Software Configuration
EMBA classes make extensive use of computer software for spreadsheets, word processing, database management systems, and the Internet. The EMBA. program uses Microsoft Word for word processing, Microsoft Excel for spreadsheets, Microsoft Access for database management, Microsoft PowerPoint for presentations, and Firefox or Internet Explorer for the Internet. Students may acquire the individual software packages or the Microsoft Office Suite, Professional version (available at heavily discounted academic prices). The Office Suite package includes Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and E-mail. All students must have full access to a laptop PC with the above software. This PC must also have full, graphical access to the Internet and be able to send and receive E-mail messages with attachments. In addition, to support effective classroom use, minimums are specified for processing speed. EMBA classes are held in an interactive technology classroom with wireless connections to the Internet. The Office of Information Technology will supply students with the latest specifications when they are accepted to the program.

Classroom Use of Laptops
Wireless technology permits full Internet, E-mail, and local server access to students at all WVU graduate program locations. This supports active participation during class as we master technology for success in global business. Further, the wireless technology offers a reception range that permits connectivity from outside the classroom walls. This range permits student access to server software and the Internet even when the classroom is otherwise occupied.
