Health Care MBA Essentials™

The WVU Health Care MBA Essentials Program is designed to address the growing need for business/management education for those responsible for strategic decision making in hospitals, practices, and clinics in the region. It will attract physicians, department chairs, nurse managers, pharmacists, dentists, and departmental managers without formal business education and those who need a refresher in contemporary business practice.

The course objectives include: broadening participants' understanding of contemporary business practices; tools to strengthen participants' business and financial decision making skills; negotiation techniques and conflict resolution methods; the basic principles to analyze and interpret financial statements; and tools to better manage change in the work environment. This highly interactive 12 topic program is designed to empower participants with business knowledge and strong management skills necessary to thrive in the complex and rapidly changing health care environment.

Classes meet in Morgantown on Friday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Each class is captured on streaming video. because emergencies do happen!



Note: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the WVU School of Medicine and the WVU School of Business and Economics Center for Executive Education. The WVU School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The WVU Office of CME designates this educational activity for a maximum of 36 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.

This continuing education activity has been provided by the WVU School of Nursing for 43.2 contact hours. The WVU School of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing education by the State of West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses, Legislative Rule #19CSR11-4 under provider number WV-1996-0120RN.

The State of West Virginia Board of Pharmacy designates this activity for a maximum of 36 GCE hours.

Health Care MBA Essentials
Enrollment is now being accepted for the Spring 2009 offering of the Health Care MBA Essentials program.

Classes will be held on Fridays 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on March 27 & 28, April 3 & 4, April 17 & 18, and May 1 & 2, 2009.
