Area of Expertise:
Dr. Rose specializes in the area of risk management and insurance. He teaches the
introductory course in this area as well as advanced seminars in life and health
insurance, property and liability insurance, and risk management. He also teaches
graduate and undergraduate courses in employee benefits. As a coauthor of Principles
of Insurance, with Robert I. Mehr and Emerson Cammack, he has seen this text
translated into Chinese for use in the People's Republic of China.
Professional Activities:
Dr. Rose is a member of the American Risk and Insurance Association, the Western Risk
and Insurance Association, and the Southern Risk and Insurance Association. He has also
served as a consultant to Commissioners of Insurance in West Virginia and Alabama. His
work has included study and recommendations on agent testing and practices, insurance
company activities and procedures, and on pricing. He has consulted with large and small
private companies regarding the use and purchase of insurance. He has appeared in District
and Federal Court as an expert witness on questions concerning insurance contracts and
the practices and procedures of insurance companies.
Honors/Special Awards:
Dr. Rose has been named an Outstanding Teacher in each of the three state universities
where he has taught - University of Illinois, Auburn University and West Virginia University.
