Undergraduate Admissions
Guidelines for Admission into B&E (pdf)
For Undergraduates
- The College of Business and Economics welcomes applications for admission to its
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Economics
programs.
For fall admissions, the College accepts applications on the first day of classes
through February 15th. Applications received after February 15th will be considered
for the next application period.
For spring admissions, the College accepts applications on the first day of classes
through September 15th. Applications received after September 15th will be considered
for the next application period.
First semester WVU transfer students are exempt from the application deadlines.
- Students must submit a formal application for admission. Applications may be filed
electronically from the first day of classes in the fall until Sept. 15 and from the
first day of classes in the spring until Feb. 15 or in person at the Edna & R. Emmett
Lynch Office of Undergraduate Advising (room 358, B&E Building).
- Any student with at least a 2.50 GPA who will have completed 58 or more credit hours
including the following courses by the end of the current semester or the summer session
is eligible to apply for admission to the College of Business and Economics:
Accounting 201 and 202--C or better
Computer Science 101--passing grade
Economics 201 and 202--C or better
Economics 225--C or better
English 101 and 102--passing grade
Mathematics 126 or 124*--C or better
Mathematics 150*--passing grade
- Students with a cumulative GPA at or above 2.50 will be considered by descending
grade point average for admission into the College as space permits. Demand for entry
into business programs is cyclical and recently competition has been especially keen.
In recent semesters a grade point average substantially above 2.50 has been required
for admission to the College.
- Transfer students must have completed all course and grade requirements and must
have grade point averages at or above 2.50 to be eligible to apply for admission to
the College. The College will admit eligible transfer students with grade point averages
at or above the most recent cutoff GPA for on-campus applicants. For this purpose, the
grade point average will be calculated using both WVU course work and all college-level
work attempted at other institutions.
*Math 129 and 155 or Math 155 and 156 are acceptable instead of Math 124 and 150. The
College encourages students seeking the B.S. in Economics to complete Math 155. Students
intending to pursue graduate work in economics should complete Math 156.
